Set in the beautifully preserved traditional Teochew mansion The House of Tan Yeok Nee, the bar pairs world-class mixology with the historic grandeur of a gazetted National Monument.
Drinks created in partnership with Studio Ryecroft include the effervescent Pepper Peddler ($28), which layers baijiu, gin and makgeolli into a tall refreshing sipper, and the zero-proof TCM Drawer No. 3 ($18), an imaginative blend of soy milk, ginger, honeydew, chestnut honey and gula melaka.
The drinks are matched by an equally considered menu of bar bites including the Golden Spring Rolls ($12) and Spicy Tempeh Tots ($12). For something more substantial, the juicy slow-cooked pork jowl with coconut chilli sambal ($24) is the ticket.
For exclusive parties, reserve the richly nostalgic Carriage Room, which evokes the timeless romanticism of a personal train car. The Chamber, the TCM apothecary-style private room, will also house a growing collection of special clay vessels used to age and mellow cocktails and spirits.
The bar is complemented by a contemporary tea room Jing Studio, which presents a fine selection of artisanal teas and infusions.
