The mighty Yarra River is the literal lifeblood of Melbourne, and the best way to explore it is by bike. The Capital City Trail forms a 29km loop around Melbourne, following the Yarra up to its smaller tributary over Dight Falls and through the northern suburbs. Spend a morning wending through bushland and farms, stopping at the various little cafés along the way.
