Next to Gaudí’s Casa Battaló, this former family home is an equally fascinating house museum, though rendered in a vastly different style. Created in 1875 by Catalan architect Josep Puig I Cadafalch for the Amatller family – famous chocolatiers of the late 19th century – it’s a rich example of Catalan Art Nouveau, though it incorporates numerous Gothic elements, creating a compelling architectural tapestry. Much of the home’s original fittings remain, though Teresa Amatller made some updates when she lived here between 1910 and 1960. Keep an eye out for the family’s photos and objets d’art, and take a break at the café on the ground floor.
