National Gallery of Victoria

Split into two buildings on both banks of the Yarra River, the NGV houses Australia’s most extraordinary art, from Indigenous shields and other masterpieces direct from the Western Desert, to the best in colonial and contemporary sculpture, design, photography and video. There’s a small but strong collection of European, Asian and American art, and the temporary exhibitions are always world-class.
