A stunning oasis in a complex inspired by Roman baths and hanging gardens

Built in 1866, the city-centre Paddington Reservoir was part of Sydney’s water supply system before it was decommissioned in 1899. Years later, it’s now a blend of Rome’s ancient Baths of Caracalla and the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, with original brick, timber and iron features sitting alongside modern, sustainable features. The highlight is a stunning sunken garden surrounded by a plethora of subtropical plants.
