This arts centre along the south bank of the river Thames is a sprawling concrete development of interconnected walkways, cultural venues, dining establishments and public squares, which originated as part of the 1951 Festival of Britain.
In addition to its usual programme of events, it frequently holds festivals and themed seasons, as well as a food market in the space behind the Royal Festival Hall on weekends.
