Hamarikyu Gardens
One of Tokyo's best parks, with rare varieties of cherry blossoms
Near Shiodome – where jetfoils await to zip visitors away to Tokyo’s Izu islands – lies the traditional Hamarikyu Gardens, one of Tokyo’s best parks. A centrepiece teahouse, accessed via an Edo-style bridge, sits atop an island on the gardens’ seawater lake and affords a wonderful respite for rest and reflection. Rare varieties of cherry blossoms bloom here in the spring, alongside a veritable sea of vibrant yellow flowers.
