Jao Tim
Where local musical talents take centrestage
Almost every night of the week, Jao Tim offers the stage at the upstairs venue of a refurbished shophouse located in the city centre to budding local musicians of various genres – from jazz and blues, to live acoustic and cantopop. Elsewhere, the robust independent live music and spoken word scene continues to thrive. Another outfit to immerse yourself in live jazz, blues, bossa nova, and occasionally, stand up comedy, is BoboKL. Besides that, The Bee at Publika Shopping Gallery hosts both local and international acts in an intimate venue that fits 500 and has brought in the likes of Temper Trap and Jake Bugg. For more indie music, check out Merdekaraya, and for local theatre productions, try Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (KLPAC). For upcoming performances, check the establishments’ individual websites.
