Nobu Ryokan Malibu

This 16-room, minimalist luxe property right on the Pacific Coast Highway was once a 1950s motel. Owned by actor Robert De Niro, entrepreneur Larry Ellison, chef Nobu Matsuhisa and producer Meir Teper, the ryokan-style hotel boasts Zen details like teak floors, Japanese soaking tubs and tatami mats. It opens up onto Carbon Beach for stunning views of the Pacific Ocean.
