Pahit
A specialty gin joint that specialises in cocktails with unique local flavours
In a quaint heritage house dating from the 1920s, below the urban boutique retreat Sekeping Sin Chew Kee is a gin bar called Pahit. It means “bitter” in Malay, named after the popular gin pahit drink made with bitters during the British colonial era. The bar is headed by founders CK Kho and Chye, and has garnered accolades such as Best Specialist Concept in 2018’s The Bar Awards. It also made it to the list of Best Bars for Gin in KL by Time Out KL. Pahit stocks about 150 varieties of gin, mostly from the United Kingdom but also from America, Australia, Finland, Japan and Colombia. The gin-and-tonics are infused with local flavours like jackfruit, pomelo and assam boi (preserved plum). Customer favourites include the Pineapple Smash and the Coconut Clover Club.
