The oldest Buddhist temple in Hanoi, dating back to the sixth century, Tran Quoc Pagoda occupies a small island on the largest lake in Hanoi, West Lake. It stands at 15 metres tall, has 11 levels and is surrounded by carved statues and greenery. Entrance to the Buddhist compound is free, though as a place of worship, visitors are encouraged to dress modestly.
