Casa Monti Roma
For the creative soul in an eclectic district
City Guide
The eternal appeal of Rome comes from its bounty of unparalleled cultural assets. To make your stay enjoyable, be sure not to fall into the trap of trying to see all of it in a very short time. Rather than ticking all the boxes, try and plan your trip around different neighbourhoods, called “rione” by the Romans (Monti and Trastevere are good starting points) or themes: a food tour is a great way to experience the city.
When to go
Avoid August in the city, which is peak tourist season, and try for May or October when the mild climate allows for full enjoyment of all that it has to offer.
How to get around
Rome’s public transport system is rather patchy but is certainly cheap (€1.50 a ticket), taxis are usually plentiful apart from when it rains and chaos ensues. Another option is renting a scooter if you are after the quintessential Roman Holiday experience.
