PLU

Bangkok’s PLU makes its first international debut

Bangkok‘s beloved PLU has finally crossed borders. Making its first international debut at Goodwood Park Hotel, the Michelin Bib Gourmand-recognised restaurant brings a slice of Thailand‘s capital to Singapore, introducing diners to the bold, regional flavours that have earned it a devoted following since 2018.

Named after Bangkok’s Suan Phlu district, PLU showcases the flavours that have earned the restaurant a place on Thailand’s Michelin Bib Gourmand list since 2018. Expect traditional Thai dishes prepared with care, served in a polished setting within Goodwood Park Hotel.

What to expect

The restaurant pairs Old World-inspired interiors with polished yet approachable service, making it equally suited to leisurely lunches and celebratory dinners.

The chef’s recommendations are a good place to begin, showcasing the breadth of Thai cuisine beyond the usual restaurant staples. The Thai-Style “Khao Kluk Kapi” Shrimp Rice Salad with Condiments ($39) arrives as a colourful tableside affair, with fragrant shrimp paste rice tossed with sweet pork, dried shrimp, green mango and fresh herbs for a harmonious balance of sweet, savoury and tangy notes.

For something more adventurous, the Stir-Fried Shrimp & Glass Noodle with Climbing Wattle, Pickled Garlic and Bitter Bean ($28) delivers bold Southern Thai character. Plump shrimp and silky glass noodles soak up the aromatic stir-fry, while the pickled garlic lends gentle acidity and bitter beans add an earthy, distinctive bite.

Another standout is the Blue Crab & Betel Leaves Curry ($35), served with rice vermicelli. Rich and deeply aromatic, the curry combines sweet crab meat with the peppery fragrance of betel leaves, resulting in a dish that’s comforting yet layered with complexity.

Those seeking heartier fare can opt for the Thai-Style Braised Pork Belly with “Kai Paloh” Five-Spice Eggs ($32), where tender braised pork belly pieces are paired with fragrant eggs infused with warm, aromatic spices. Equally comforting is the Creamy Shrimp “Tom Yum” Soup with Thai Chili Jam ($32), a luscious interpretation of the classic Thai soup that balances tangy, spicy and savoury flavours with succulent shrimp in every spoonful.

Finish your meal with the Mango Sticky Rice ($15), where ripe mangoes are paired with chewy glutinous rice and a drizzle of creamy coconut sauce for a dessert that’s simple, timeless and universally loved.
