Carlton City Hotel Singapore
An upscale business hotel just a short stroll from Singapore’s prime office buildings and the bustling nightlife scene
City Guide
Despite only gaining independence in 1965 – making it a mere babe compared to other global cities of similar standing – Singapore has groomed itself into one of the world’s most futuristic and forward-looking destinations, while retaining the unique traditions of its multicultural past. Despite its diminutive size, it punches far above its weight. The past decade alone has seen the emergence of world-class museums, swanky integrated resorts and a booming fine-dining scene, with the city-state hell-bent on transforming itself into the region’s premier tourist hotspot. Its compact size and state-of-the-art transportation network will allow you to explore the sights with ease, meaning that you’re never too far away from your next retail fix, eye-opening heritage trail or life-changing culinary adventure.
When to go:
Singapore’s climate is perpetually hot and humid. It’s particularly rainy during the monsoon period from November to January, while the hottest days tend to fall between April and June.
How to get around:
An EZ-Link card (which can be purchased at all MRT stations) is your ticket to the country’s efficient public transportation system. Tourists can take advantage of the Singapore Tourist Pass, which allows unlimited travel for one, two or three days (available at TransitLink Ticket Offices). Metered taxis are relatively affordable, and ride-sharing apps like Grab, Gojek and Tada also operate in the city. Bike-sharing apps like Mobike and SG Bike are also available if you prefer exploring on two wheels.
