Where Was Each Season of ‘The White Lotus’ Filmed?

In all three seasons of the HBO hit The White Lotus, wealthy characters embark on extravagant vacations at a chain of luxury resorts. The show’s backdrops look so convincingly lavish because the scenes are filmed at actual resorts.

If your wanderlust’s been ignited by each season’s fabulous setting and you’re wondering where they’re filmed, look no further. Check into the hotels on this list to enjoy a splendid time of rest and relaxation. Dastardly deeds, catty drama, and shocking crimes (thankfully) are not guaranteed.

Season 1 — Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea (Hawaii, USA)

Like most travel and hospitality businesses, this Four Seasons property was closed during the height of pandemic lockdowns. This granted The White Lotus’ crew rare access to film the show across all six hectares of the stunning Hawaiian resort. Four Seasons Resort Maui features contemporary Hawaiian motifs and an art collection, and here, you can partake in Hawaiian culture through an array of complimentary activities, including hula dancing.

For a truly special experience, book a multi-course culinary voyage (literally!) on a private catamaran while an experienced Hawaiian navigator describes how ancient Polynesians traversed the seas.

Season 2 — San Domenico Palace, Taormina, A Four Seasons Hotel (Sicily, Italy)

You’ll find this former 14th-century Sicilian convent perched high above the Ionian Sea. Now a five-star hotel, this majestic property offers magnificent views and a bucket-list 21m clifftop infinity pool, which was featured on the show.

Since this hotel is in Italy, gastronomic delights are de rigueur. Enjoy exquisite meals at their Michelin-starred Principe Cerami restaurant as well as unique experiences, such as a culinary tour of the volcanic Mount Etna and cannoli masterclasses. Just don’t expect the beach here — The White Lotus Season 2’s shocking opening scenes (as well as all its seaside scenes) were filmed in Cefalù, which is a few hours’ drive away.

Season 3 — Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui (Thailand)

Panoramic views. White sandy beaches. Azure skies reflected on calm blue waters, all framed by swaying coconut trees and the island’s vegetation. Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui is, simply put, a veritable paradise by the Gulf of Siam.

Season 3 — Anantara Mai Khao Phuket Villas (Thailand)

Aside from Koh Samui, filming for Season 3 was also done in Bangkok and Phuket, and it is in the latter that Anantara Mai Khao is located. Sitting on the northern tip of the island, this all-villa resort marries village charm with modern luxury. It comprises a whopping 113 pool villas inspired by traditional Thai homes, a sprawling tree house restaurant, and even a hotel boat.
