You and I Are Polar Opposites
In the immortal words of Paula Abdul, “Opposites attract”. And no mismatched pair embodies this better than Miyu Suzuki and Yusuke Tani, two high schoolers who couldn’t be more different.
Miyu is cute and cacophonic, while Yusuke is calm and contemplative. That they’re worlds apart in personality doesn’t stop Miyu from wanting to get closer to the reticent boy sitting next to her in class. But every time she reaches out to the cool and quiet Yusuke, she becomes a hot, blubbering mess. Luckily, her feelings are not unrequited, and the duo begin an awkward relationship.
Based on the web manga of the same name, this show wastes no time in getting the odd couple together, with the usual anime tropes of furtive hand-holding, comical misunderstandings, and public confession of love all taking place within the first episode.
Fans of slice-of-life romcoms like Skip and Loafer will swoon and cringe in equal measure at the crushing embarrassments and anxieties suffered by the hopeless romantics.
