K-dramas suffered from a bad rep in the ’00s. Often dismissed as soapy trash back then, they were frequently the stuff of parody. But they have come a long way since then and entrenched themselves in global pop culture. And K-dramas are no longer consigned to the romance genre; now, they span everything from thrillers and melodramas to good ol’ romcoms.

For those who are swept up in the hallyu craze, catch these three K-Dramas on KrisWorld that will draw you in with their unique blend of compelling characters and intricate settings.

Lovely Runner

This year’s sleeper hit, Lovely Runner, tells the story of a K-pop stan travelling back in time to meet her idol in his school days. Im Sol (Kim Hye-yoon) is just like any other ordinary K-pop fan. She buys a ton of merch, goes to every concert, and has been part of the journey of her favourite celebrity, Ryu Sun-jae (Byeon Woo-seok), since the beginning.

A fateful phone call from Sun-jae when he was a rookie saved Sol, who is paralysed from the waist down, from the brink of despair. So, when Sol finds herself going back 15 years in time after learning that her idol has passed on due to depression, she vows to change their destinies. Lovely Runner is an alternately heartwarming and heart-wrenching journey of hope and second chances. Be prepared to fall more and more in love with the couple as the drama progresses. Knight Flower

Based on a webtoon, Knight Flower follows Jo Yeo-hwa (Lee Ha-nee), who married into the most prestigious noble family in Joseon but is now widowed. However, she harbours a secret.

By day, Yeo-hwa fulfils her duties with grace and poise (or as much as she can muster), but by night, she transforms into a masked vigilante. A woman ahead of her time, she possesses a strong sense of justice and impeccable martial arts skills. She uncovers corruption and defends the innocent, all while keeping her identity hidden until she keeps meeting Park Soo-ho (Lee Jong-won), an officer who’s bent on unmasking her.

Knight Flower combines elements of historical drama, action, and romance, as well as a hefty dose of comedy, into a breezy and compellingly watchable series.
