Jim Carrey says he did Sonic the Hedgehog 3 because he went on a spending spree

Back in 2022, while promoting Sonic the Hedgehog 2, Carrey told Access Hollywood that he was retiring from acting. He said: “If the angels bring some sort of script that’s written in gold ink, that says to me that it’s going to be really important for people to see, I might continue down the road [back to acting]. But I’m taking a break.”

His retirement didn’t last long — he returned to acting with Sonic the Hedgehog 3, in which he reprised the role of Dr Robotnik. When the Associated Press brought up the matter of his ‘retirement’, he confessed that it “might have been hyperbole”.

He also tells E! News: “You know, it’s just … I bought a lot of stuff, and I need the money, frankly.”

Hey, stars got to pay the bills, too!

Jennifer Love Hewitt to return for I Know What You Did Last Summer sequel

Hot on the heels of the much-anticipated Scream 7 is the upcoming direct legacy sequel to the I Know What You Did Last Summer franchise, set to be released in July.

Hewitt has just confirmed that she’s signed on to reprise her role (from the first two films of the series), while ’90s heartthrob Freddie Prinze Jr. already confirmed his return a few months prior. This sequel is coming almost two decades after the last film in the series, I’ll Always Know What You Did Last Summer, was released. It is still untitled as of writing — may we suggest We Definitely Know What You Did That Summer So Make Sure He’s Really Dead This Time?

Chris Evans might be making an MCU return in Avengers: Doomsday

It seems Robert Downey Jr. might not be the only original Avengers cast member returning to the MCU. Recently, rumours have been swirling about Chris Evans coming back for more superhero mayhem in Avengers: Doomsday.

There is no news yet on what role Evans will be playing although it most likely won’t be Captain America since Anthony Mackie has taken up that mantle. Theories abound among the comic book geek crowd, and one popular one is that he’ll be returning to play an evil Captain America working for Hydra.

Taylor Swift has concluded the Eras Tour

After being the cause of bouts of hysteria and spontaneous singing across the world and single-handedly expanding the beading bracelet market, the superstar has finally hung up her guitar on the Eras Tour. It’s officially the highest-grossing tour of all time and the first to earn over US$1 billion in revenue. Swift has also generously given out over US$197 million in bonuses to the tour performers and crew on top of their regular salaries. We stan a generous celebrity!

Conan O’Brien to host Oscars for the first time

After Jimmy Kimmel and John Mulaney turned down the notoriously difficult job, the role of host has officially gone to funny man Conan O’Brien. It’s his virgin attempt at the gig — here’s hoping he’ll liven up the event by bringing his self-deprecating, deadpan sense of humour along.

Wicked Part 2 to be titled Wicked: For Good

It’s the perfect title, referencing one of the musicals’ most popular songs, in which Glinda and Elphaba duet. But it’s also a way of signing off — a way to let us know that this is it. That we’ll remember this for good, and that we’ll always have these movies with us.

Armie Hammer cameos as ‘Kannibal Ken’ in new music video nearly four years after scandal

Well, the bro has got to eat. After being shunned by Hollywood following allegations about his abusive behaviour and cannibalistic fantasies emerged, Armie Hammer is slowly trying to claw his way back into the fold.

Most recently, he made a split-second cameo referencing the scandal in a low-budget music video for Georgina Leahy’s song, “Typical Squeeze”. The video was directed by a friend of Hammer’s who also works on his podcast.

Will this mark the start of Hammer’s comeback? With a new movie, Frontier Crucible, on the horizon, will we finally see Hammer make it again?

Cillian Murphy rumoured to be considered for the role of Voldemort in the upcoming Harry Potter TV series

Trade magazines like Variety and The Hollywood Reporter have been publishing news pieces about the various casting rumours pertaining to the series. The most recent is a juicy one: Cillian Murphy is reportedly being considered for the role of Voldemort.

While HBO has yet to confirm anything beyond who the showrunner and the director are, we’d just like to state for the record that Murphy’s cheekbones more than qualify him for the role. Those finely cut features will offset an absent nose perfectly!
