City Guide

New York City

Whatever your interest, you’ll find it in New York: kayaking on the river, helicopter rides over the Hudson, speakeasy bars, Broadway shows and music concerts, parkland walks, food markets, shopping, jazz… the list goes on. With countless options at your fingertips, you’re bound to discover something fresh, new and exciting on every trip to this cosmopolitan city of 8.3 million.

When to go:
New York is best enjoyed during spring for cherry blossoms and warmer climes, and autumn for fall foliage in cosy sweater weather and events like the glitzy Fashion Week and the TCS New York City Marathon through the five boroughs. It gets hot and humid in the summer, while the mercury dips below zero during winter.

How to get around:
It’s easy to get around using the subway, which runs 24 hours; grab an unlimited weekly pass for US$34. On street level, yellow cabs (green in the outer boroughs!) and rideshares abound. Alternatively, travel by shared Citi Bike or foot to soak up the Big Apple’s myriad sights and sounds. Manhattan’s gridded system of avenues and streets makes it a breeze to navigate.
